Modern Economic Science (Bimonthly), founded in 1979, is a comprehensive academic journal of economics sponsored by the Ministry of Education of China and hosted by Xi’an Jiaotong University. It mainly reports on the important theoretical and applied research results in the fields of economics and management after China’s Reform and Opening up, providing a platform for researchers and practitioners in these fields to display and exchange academic achievement.

Since its inception, the Journal has insisted on shaping a fine brand, regarding “first-class academic quality” and the double blind peer review as the basic principles, and “originality, diversity and openness” as prominent features for running a journal. It advocates standard and rigorous research methods, encourages the combination of theoretical and empirical research, and particularly welcomes contributions which reflect certain theoretical depth and practical significance. Modern Economic Science enjoys a high reputation in Chinese academic circles in virtue of its rigorous academic styles and high-quality academic positioning, so it remains the source journals for such academic publications as: Overview of Chinese Core Journals, Overview of China Humanities and Social Sciences Core Journals, Chinese Social Sciences Citations Index (CSSCI). It has been rated as “The 3rd National Top 100 Key Journal Award” and “Ministry of Education of China’s Famous Journals and Columns of Philosophy and Social Sciences” and awarded the title of “China’s Top Academic Journals of International Influence”.
