The Periodicals Publishing House of Xi’an Jiaotong University, founded in 2000, was a merger and was established by the former Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), former Xi’an Medical College and former Shaanxi Finance and Economics Institute. XJTU implements the classification and unification management on the journals. The directly managed journals are linked to the Periodicals Publishing House while others are affiliated with such secondary institutions as the relevant schools (hospitals) and departments (offices). In addition to being responsible for the coordination, guidance, supervision, and inspection of public journals, the House is also in charge of running the journals directly managed by the university and performing daily assignments. The journals directly managed by the House now include: Journal of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Journal of Xi’an Jiaotong University (Social Sciences), Journal of Xi’an Jiaotong University (Medical Sciences), Journal of Contemporary Economic Science, and Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis, with a wide range of content in terms of natural science, humanities, and social sciences.

Over the years, encouraged by the university motto of “studying assiduously, resolving to succeed, acting decisively, and managing affairs with magnanimity”, the Periodicals Publishing House is devoted to supporting scientific research by this prestigious university. Its academic integrity and fine publishing leave the House extensively praised in academic circles and in industry. The journals have won honors like: “Chinese Top 100 Outstanding Academic Journals”, “China’s Fine Science and Technology Journal”, “China’s Excellent Academic Journals of International Influence”, “Chinese University’s Fine Science and Technology Journals”, “National Top 100 Key Journals”, “National Fine Social Science Journals”, “National Top 100 Social Science Journals”, “China’s Ministry of Education Famous Journals and Columns of Philosophy and Social Science”. Amongst them, top in the global ranking of Pharmacy, Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis entered the “China Science and Technology Journal Enhancement Program of International Influence”, which has been recorded by ESCI/Web of Science, Scopus, Dutch Medical Abstracts, US Chemical Abstracts (Web Edition) and International Pharmaceutical Abstracts, China Science Citation Database (CSCD), PubMed Central and other well-known databases at home and abroad. The full text of Journal of Xi’an Jiaotong University was included in EI; Journal of Xi’an Jiaotong University (Social Sciences) and Contemporary Economic Science have always been the source journals of databases like CSSCI and such.

The West Relocation Spirit-keeping in mind the overall situation, working selflessly for our country, carrying forward traditional culture, and pioneering with painstaking efforts-enables us to courageously confront and conquer the difficulties of running journals. Today’s Jiaoda journalists are inheriting and developing the West Relocation Spirit, carrying forward traditional culture, and pioneering with painstaking efforts-to move forward and fight for a new era, taking actions to publish high-quality, intensive, digital and international journals. Adhering to the concept of running a journal, the House integrates academic resources to publish high-quality journals in China and abroad. Additionally, under the XJTU’s spirit of “taking root in western China and striving to be world-class”, it steadfastly defends the bottom line of scientific research by regulating the text-reviewing process and disseminating outstanding scientific achievements. Contributing itself to creating a window where research results are shown, the House insists on providing academic support for the development of XJTU, and striving to leave a historical imprint for cultural prosperity.
